The business of C & C started from 1987, when the founder, Mr Chew Swee King
completed 2 weeks short but intensive mushroom cultivation courses at Malaysia
Agricutural Research & Development Institute ( Mardi ) . He started a small project
on the grey oyster mushroom cultivation in his home town Grisek, Muar at the
same year.
Based on the knowledge on science and biology he gained from his education, he
has the strong believe that as a nutrition-rich, grown organically and edible
fungus, oyster mushroom can be a strong substitute or alternative to vegetables
and meat. However, C & C’s development period was painstaking as only few
people know about edible fresh mushroom and this had resulted in the lack of
demand.
With the initiative, dedication and determination, the founder had, after all this
year, leaded C & C became the biggest grower , producer and supplier of grey
oyster mushroom in Malaysia & Singapore with a monthly production exceeding
140 metric tons.And the fresh mushroom is promoted and distribute through Vita
Agrotech to retailer chains like Giant’s, Makro, Carrefour and Tesco in Malaysia
and selling under Fair Price brand of NTUC Supermarket in Singapore.
Beside the tremendous potential present in the fresh edible market, in 2004, the
management has made the decision to ventures downstream through C & C
Tropical Mushroom Snacks Sdn Bhd to tap the unlimited market beyond
perishable foods. To date,the mushroom snacks which is branded as ‘Frulifresh
Oyster Mushroom Crisps’ has been promoted through Guardian, Jaya Jusco,
Isetan and Watson’s of Malaysia and also started selling in NTUC Supermarket
Singapore in April 2006. Since the launching, the product is being well received
by the consumer. The company now is under pre-requisition for HACCP and
expecting approval by July 2006. Its management undertakes to implement GMP
for its daily production activities.
In Nov 2005, C & C Mushroom Cultivation Farm Sdn Bhd has been awarded ISO
9001-2000 on the good cultivation process, harvesting, packaging, storage and
delivery of fresh mushroom. And it was awarded again in March 2006 with Good
Agricutural Practice (GAP) by Ministry of Agricultural Malaysia.
Today, C & C Group of Companies has strengthen into an integrated mushroom
company and is more ready to deliver superior products and services that exceed
customers expectations.
